Bollard/capstan give a list of 180 arcs opposing in continuous direction, same directional axis as source input; can twist rope as torque, torque more on each cycle around. And all of cycle is heat building/no reliefs. Rack takes more space to give now a linear list opposing arcs but now apexes that are cross axis to input by contrast, torque 1 way then opposite/untorquing in each full cycle pair, and can break up thermal frictions to not be so constantly building/some relief. |
