Summary

[edit]
Description

At Museum of Flight, Boeing Field, Seattle.

The conference room of the first presidential Boeing 707-120.

This Boeing 707-120 was built in 1958 as VIP Transport for the President of the United States of America. Dwight Eisenhower was the first President to make use of this aircraft.

It was originally built as VC-137A, re-engined to become VC-137B, and relieved from presidential duty when VC-137Cs, based on more advanced Boeing 707-320, were acquired. The VC-137B carried other government VIPs until retirement in 1996.

The US Air Force operated three VC-137Bs, two of which are on public display. This is one, and the other is at Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson. The two VC-137Cs are also on public display, one at the US Air Force Museum in Dayton and the other at Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. Presidential duty is currently carried out by a pair of VC-25s, based on the Boeing 747.
