Summary
[edit]DescriptionBoatyard sheds beside the path onto The Island - geograph.org.uk - 1803044.jpg |
English: Boatyard sheds beside the path onto The Island The Island is a roughly triangular-shaped area consisting of marsh pastures, surrounded by the River Waveney in the east and the River Yare in the west, with the New Cut connecting both rivers and forming the border in the southwest by cutting diagonally across it from Reedham in the NW to St Olaves in the SE. The Norwich to Lowestoft railway line runs along the cut on the other side, forming the northern boundary of the Norton, Thurlton and Thorpe Marshes. A public footpath starting by St Olaves Bridge, leads past boatyards and onwards from there along the River Waveney, all the way around the Island. The path can be followed in clock-wise direction from below Haddiscoe Bridge over the New Cut. |
