Summary
[edit]DescriptionBlue passion flower (Passiflora caerulea).jpg |
English: A plant from the Passifloraceae family. It is believed that the Spanish missionaries used the flower as a visual indicator to demonstrate to the Indians various elements of the instruments of torture to which Jesus Christ was subjected: the crown is a crown of thorns, the pillars are nails, and the five stamens are the wounds of Christ. Hence the name of the flower - passionflower (lat. "passio" - suffering and "flos" - flower; "Flower of the Lord's Passion"). The homeland of the plant is South America; it is cultivated in Ukraine to obtain tasty fruits. English: Blue passion flower (Passiflora caerulea), Kyiv, June 26, 2020 |
