Title
Blade
Description
English: Copper alloy blade of uncertain date

The object is a tanged bladed implement (with an overall length of 71.0mm and a weight of 5.5g). The blade is leaf-shaped (with a length of 36mm and maximum width of 16.5mm) with a central rib producing a flattened lozenge section (2.7m thick). The tang is of sub-rectangular section and both narrows and thickens towards the terminal (with a width of 1.6mm - 3mm and a thickness of 2.7mm - 3.1mm). The surface has a pale brown discolouration, with a pale to mid-green patina beneath.

The implement is difficult to closely parallel and may be seen to resemble a spatula, arrowhead or knife in form. However these forms of implements tend to differ stylistically or technologically to this example, making a confident identification difficult.
