Black walnut cracked open to expose meat

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The shell of this fruit was cracked open by the compression of a small log gently impacting it as it rested on a concrete walkway. This is just one of many personalized shelling methods that individuals have engineered throughout the years to separate the delectable meats from the shell. Despite all of the intelligent ingenuity of many very inventive individuals, no method seems to be able to guarantee a perfect yield! There will always be a certain percentage of meats left embedded in the nooks and crannies of the shells.
