Title
Black burnished ware
Description
English: A single rim sherd of Roman black-burnished ware, probably dating from the early 2nd century. The piece has a light to mid-grey fabric with some large calcite inclusions and a darker grey burnished finish, on both the inside and outside. The rim is known as a cavetto rim and curves outwards from the shoulder of the vessel (probably a cooking pot or jar). The sherd weighs 26.71g and measures 43.6mm in width (across the rim), 34mm in length and 10.2mm in thickness.
