English: Wet alder woodland, close to Black Park Lake
The stream seen here flows into the north end of Black Park Lake. A Buckinghamshire County Council notice-board nearby explains recent work in the area. Birch, rhododendron and bamboo have been systematically removed, to give the best possible chance to the alders - which thrive in these very soggy conditions. As the notice says, 'Wet alder woodland is increasingly rare habitat in the UK'. |
