Description

1912 Star 15.9 h.p. Victoria or Doctor's coupé

This is the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley, West Midlands. The museum was established in 1975, and the first buildings moved here in 1976. Since then a 26 acre site has been developed, with the unique conditions of living and working in the Black Country from the mid 19th century to early 20th century. It is off Tipton Road in Dudley. This is Bradburn & Wedge Ltd - inside the car showroom is a collection of vintage cars.

This building has been created to showcase the Museum’s magnificent collection of Black Country manufactured vehicles. Inside, visitors can view cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles including brands such as Bean, Clyno, Westfield, Sunbeam, Diamond, Guy and AJS.

The 1950s appearance of the building is based on the car showrooms of local company, Bradburn and Wedge. The company was founded in 1918, when William Howard Bradburn, the son of a farmer from Wednesfield, joined with Harry Wedge. Wedge left the business about 4 years later, but Bradburn carried on under the same name. His firm became one of the best known car distribution companies in the Midlands.
