A cross-mated Yellow Sparrc)w has mated with a Desert Trump- peter Bullfinch and a nest is being built. ■ Have seen the Malabar Starlings go twice into a barrel, in which nesting material ends can be seen, with their beaks full of gentles, so apparently they must be feedmg young. Editorial. 15§ May 15th to June 6th I glean the following: Thf, Young WiriTE-EVES (Z. vireus). mentioned inour last issue, were fully reared, and became quite independ-ent of their parents, only to succumb to the terrible wind andrain storms of June 4th. Another young brood of three arein the nest and thriving. A pair of Chaffinc-hes nested and duly hatched out, butthe young were not fully reared; however another pair, inanother aviary, have young which are doing well. One or more pairs of fJlue Tits are engaged inincubation. Passing mention of a disheartening tragedy must bemade. Success had been all but achieved in the rearing of ayoung Malabar Parrakcet, when the hen Malabar was killedby a Mealy Rosalia Parrakcet. Not only is there the acute dis-appointment of the all but reared youngster, but thereis the serious loss of an apparently unrcplaceable bird. Wesympathise with D
