Summary
[edit]DescriptionBiberquelle Karstquelle Langenenslingen Schwaebische-Alb.jpg |
The spring is framed by a 20 m lake, feeding a mill since early medieval times. Today the karst water is used to generate electric power. Thereafter the spring’s karst water forms the rivulet “Biberbach”, which flows into the Danube after only about 9 km. The karst water emerged from the marly formation “Zementmergel”, one bedding of the South German White Jurassic (ki5). Marly rock beds are rather known to be impounding, but here this is not the case. Geologists therefore think, that the “Friedinger” tectonic fault near by may be a proper explanation for this exception. |
