Title
bezel
Description
English: Small cast finger ring, probably of Late Roman date. The hoop has a D-shaped profile with flat sides and widens at the shoulders to take in the bezel. The shoulders are decorated with incised lines and dots, The upper hoop has a central line running along the hoop offset by diagonal marks, terminating in dots near at the sides of the hoop. The shoulders carry arcs, before radiating linear marks from the raised bezel. The oval bezel has a cross motif composed of two vertical and two linear curved lines. There is a pellet in each of the four corners of the cross. The diameter of the ring may suggest it was constructed for a child. The ring is in good condition with a mid-brown patina.
