Summary

[edit]
Description Built in 1967, this modern Town Hall, part of the Bethlehem City Center complex, was designed by the architecture firm of Lovelace & Spillman. The one-story building is attached to the west side of Bethlehem City Hall via a short glass breezeway, and features a circular footprint with a low-slope roof, which has its edges clad in textured concrete panels, and cantilevers over the curtain wall below, a tapered penthouse clad in textured concrete panels that have multiple zig-zagging sections, a domed plexiglass skylight at the top of the penthouse, a textured concrete panel base, and a floor-to-ceiling curtain walls with multiple zig-zagging portions that create an undulation along the exterior face of the curtain wall. The building has been modified with the semi-permanent screens at the exterior curtain wall, allowing it to function as the Rotunda Gallery, which is run by the Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission. The building is a noncontributing structure in the Central Bethlehem Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, though it has since stood long enough to be eligible for listing individually or as part of a district.
