Description

Minister-president Rutte vertrekt bij de Geboortekerk voor een ontmoeting met zijn ambtgenoot minister-president Hamdallah van de Palestijnse autoriteit. Rutte bezoekt Israël en de Palestijnse Gebieden voor de officiële start van de bilaterale samenwerkingsfora met Israël en met de Palestijnse Gebieden. Hij wordt hierbij vergezeld door minister Timmermans van Buitenlandse Zaken en minister Ploumen voor Buitenlandse Handel en Ontwikkelingssamenwerking. Met de delegatie reist ook een handelsdelegatie mee onder aanvoering van VNO/NCW-voorzitter Bernard Wientjes met ongeveer 70 Nederlandse bedrijven en rond de 15 kennisinstellingen.

Doel van de bilaterale samenwerkingsfora is het verder verstevigen van de goede betrekkingen met Israël en met de Palestijnse Gebieden. Overkoepelend thema is innovatie, met de nadruk op agro-food, energie/gas en water. Daarnaast wordt specifiek bij het samenwerkingsforum met de Palestijnse Gebieden het accent gelegd op ICT. Naast overheden zijn bedrijven, kennisinstellingen en niet-gouvernementele organisaties bij het Forum betrokken.
