Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Beta-hemolytic streptococci are characterized by their ability to completely lyse red blood cells in blood agar, resulting in a clear zone of hemolysis around their colonies. The term "beta-hemolysis" is derived from this clear hemolysis, which differentiates these bacteria from alpha-hemolytic (partial hemolysis resulting in a greenish hue) and gamma-hemolytic (no hemolysis) streptococci.
