Description
English: Beryl (Var.: Emerald)
Locality: Muzo Mine, Muzo, Vasquez-Yacopí Mining District, Boyacá Department, Colombia (Locality at mindat.org)
Size: 4.2 x 4.2 x 3.1 cm.
An unusual, large emerald crystal on matrix from the Muzo Mine of Colombia. This gemmy and lustrous, unusually green-blue crystal is complete-all-around and is pristine. It is 2.7 x 2.0 cm, has textbook, hexagonal form and is set in shale matrix. The lustrous, little pyrite crystal is a very nice accent. The shale inclusions must be the coloring agent in this unique crystal.
