[edit]DescriptionBerner-Muenster-TipTom-P1040188.jpg |
English: The Minster (in German: Münster) of Berne, Switzerland. Construction started in 1421. The tower with a height of 100.6 m (328 ft) was only completed in 1893.
In the lower left corner of the image are some houses of the old town, in the lower right corner is the Münsterplattform, once a churchyard, now a public park. Photo taken in the evening light on 22nd of August, 2003, from Kirchenfeld Bridge, Bern. In the year 2003, the canton of Berne was celebrating being part of the Swiss Confederation for 650 years. For this reason, the tower of the minster could be seen without any scaffolding for some time - quite an unusual sight, since there is continous renovation work going on.Deutsch: Das Berner Münster ist die grösste Kirche der Stadt Bern, Schweiz.
