Description

Title: Berlin, Abriss der Mauer

For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. ADN-ZB Reiche 20.2.1990 Berlin: Mauerabriss
Um 21.00 Uhr des 19.2. begannen Pionierkräfte der DDR-Grenztruppen zwischen Brandenburger Tor und Reichstagufer mit der Demontage eines zwei Kilometer langen Teilstücks bis zum Checkpoint Charlie. Die Arbeiten, die nur nachts durchgeführt werden können, dauern voraussichtlich mehrere Wochen. Am Brandenburger Tor soll es keine neuen Grenzanlagen geben, während bis zum Grenzübergang ein 1,50 Meter hoher Zaun gezogen wird.
