Description
Deutsch: Neues Stadthaus an der Parochialstraße, Ecke Klosterstraße in Berlin-Mitte; erbaut 1937-1938 nach einem Entwurf von Franz Arnous und Kurt Starck für die Feuersozietät, später von der Berliner Stadtverwaltung genutzt. Es handelte sich um den ersten nationalsozialistischen Großbau für das geplante städtische "Verwaltungsforum" am Molkenmarkt, in der Umgebung des benachbarten Alten Stadthauses. In der DDR-Zeit residierte hier der Magistrat von Ost-Berlin. Heute ist das Gebäude unter anderem Sitz des Standesamts des Bezirks Mitte. Es steht unter Denkmalschutz.
English: "Neues Stadthaus" ("New City Hall") at Parochialstraße, corner of Klosterstraße in Berlin-Mitte; built 1936-1937 by architects Franz Arnous and Kurt Starck for the municipal fire insurance of Berlin, it was later used by the city administration. It was the first building erected as part of the municipal "Administration Forum" the Nazis planned for the Molkenmarkt neighborhood around Altes Stadthaus. In GDR times, East Berlin's magistrate resided here. It is now seat of the register office of the borough of Mitte. The building is landmarked.
