Description
Deutsch: "Haus zur Berolina" am Hausvogteiplatz 12 in Berlin-Mitte, erbaut 1895 von den Architekten Hermann August Krause und Alterthum & Zadek. Das tief ins Grundstück hineinreichende Geschäftshaus wurde nach den Bedürfnissen von Bekleidungsfirmen errichtet, die es als Lagerhaus und für Kleidergeschäfte nutzten. Bis in die 1930er-Jahre war der Hausvogteiplatz das Zentrum jüdischer Textilhändler in Berlin und mehrere Firmen und Geschäfte im Besitz von Juden residierten in diesem Gebäude. Es ist als Baudenkmal ausgewiesen.
English: "Haus zur Berolina" at Hausvogteiplatz No. 12 in Berlin-Mitte, built by the architects Hermann August Krause and Alterthum & Zadek. The commercial building, which occupies a narrow but deep plot, was designed according to the needs of clothing companies which used it as storage building and for clothing stores. Up to 1930s, Hausvogteiplatz was the center of the Jewish textile trade in Berlin and several companies and stores owned by Jews used to reside in this building. It has been designated a historic landmark.
