Deutsch: Das "Haus Friedrichstadt" in der Friedrichstraße 194-198 in Berlin-Mitte, erbaut 1934-1935 von Gerhard Mensch. Das Gebäude nimmt die ganze westliche Straßenseite zwischen Krausenstraße (links) und Leipziger Straße ein. Das Büro- und Geschäftsgebäude zeigt - für die NS-Zeit ungewöhnlich - eine moderne Gliederung, die an die Architektur der 1920er-Jahre anknüpft. Die Werksteinvorlagen an den Fassaden verweisen auf die tragende Stahlskelettkonstruktion. Im Inneren sind die Decken mit abstrakten Linienmotiven erhalten geblieben. Das Haus ist an verschiedene Geschäfte und Gesellschaften vermietet. Das Gebäude ist als Baudenkmal ausgewiesen.
English: The "House Friedrichstadt" at Friedrichstraße No. 194-198 in Berlin-Mitte, built 1934 to 1935 by Gerhard Mensch. The office and commercial building occupies the whole western block front along Friedrichstraße between Krausenstraße (on the left) and Leipziger Straße. Although built in the Nazi era, it shows a modern structure indebted to the architecture of the 1920s. The engaged columns of the facade point out the steel skeleton structure. In the interior, ceilings with the original abstract motives have been preserved. The offices and stores of the house are rented by numerous companies. The building has been designated a historic landmark. |
