Transcript InfoField | The Lambourne Valley is one of the most beautiful districts in the picturesque county of Berkshire. The town of Lambourne is of considerable antiquity, it being mentioned in the will of King Alfred, who bequeathed it to his Queen. The poet, Joshua Sylvester, resided here for many years. The neighbourhood abounds in places of interest, including the White Horse Hill, old Roman camps, and an ancient British burying-place known as " Seven Barrows. " |
