Summary
[edit]DescriptionBenches, Barnett Demesne - geograph.org.uk - 1613261.jpg |
English: Benches, Barnett Demesne. Three benches by a path at the Barnett Demesne in Belfast. Each bench is marked by the makers name and all three were made in Belfast. Interestingly, despite looking identical to me, one bench has been made by a different firm than the other two. The bench nearest to me in this picture bears the name "Ruddell, Harvey and Co. Belfast" - see 1613266 - whereas the other two bear the name of "James Gilmour, Dublin Road Belfast" - see 1613290 & 1613280. From some limited searching I believe that Ruddell, Harvey and Co. Ltd. were (initially at least) timber and slate merchants based at 58 Corporation Street, later moving to Duncrue Street in Belfast; James Gilmour was listed as a general builder based at 39 Dublin Road. Clarifications or further information welcomed. |
