Chinese name: 北京BJ20 (běijīng BJ20) Year of launch: 2016 Beijing Automobile Works (BAW) started producing cars in 1958. Classic models include the Jinggangshan, Dongfanghong, BJ750 and the legendary Beijing BJ212. 2008 saw the premiere of the Beijing B40 prototype and it hit the market as Beijing BJ40 at the very end of 2013 (!). It seems more like a Chinese interpretation of the Jeep Wrangler rather than the legendary Beijing BJ212. The foor-door version debuted as Beijing B70 in 2011, and entered the market in 2016 (!) as Beijing BJ40L. The BJ20 was launched in 2016 and is based on the platform of the BAIC products Senova X65 and Weiwang S50. It comes with a 1.5 turbo petrol engine (150 hp) and only front-wheel drive, rather disappointing for a tough looking vehicle like the BJ20. Sales are pretty good for niche offering.
