Summary
[edit]DescriptionBeattock Summit 3 geograph-2242384-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Down relief Liverpool and Manchester to Glasgow express near Beattock Summit. View SE, on the upper mile or so of the gruelling 10-mile climb up from Beattock station. BR 'Clan' Class 6 4-6-2 No. 72001 'Clan Cameron' definitely needs the banking engine it has at the rear of its long train. It is difficult to be certain of the precise location of the picture, on the long and desolate stretch of the upper Evan Valley (on the border of Dumfries- and Lanarkshires) where nowadays the main line and A74 are now also paralleled by the M74 Motorway - a great location for railway photography. |
