Title |
Base sherd from a Post Medieval glass phial |
||
Description |
English: Three fragments from a Post medieval - Modern (later 17th to 18th century) glass phial/bottle. The fragments comprise the rim and part of the neck, part of the base and a small part of the wall. The glass is pale aqua in shade with many bubbles and mix/ marvelling lines suggesting is was blown but not of the finest quality. The rim is a flat oval 32.7mm by 30.9mm by 2.3mm. The neck is 9.8mm at the break and appears to be relatively straight. The base fragment shows the bottle had a large push-up and was a minimum of 42mm in diameter at the base and probably quite a bit more as no part of the angle between the base and the sides remains. The walls were much thinner than the base or rim, c.1mm and the small remaining fragment suggests it was cylindrical. |
