Title |
Barbed and tanged arrowhead |
||
Description |
English: A barbed and tanged arrow head dating from the Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age period, c.2500BC - 1500BC. The flint is mottled white/grey in colour and is hardly patinated. The ends of the barbs have snapped off and are missing, making it difficult to assign to a type. The tang is triangular. It has a length of 25.67mm, width 17.66mm, thickness 3.55mm, weight 1.18g. The arrowhead was manufactured using pressure flaking invasive retouch which covers both faces. This suggests that the arrowhead was well made and may have been a fancy type. For reference see Butler 2005. Prehistoric Flintwork p. 165. |
