Summary

[edit]
Description Golden Gai means ‘Golden Block’ in Japanese and refers to a block of six narrow alleyways (called Yokocho) in Shinjuku, Tokyo, with around 200 tiny shanty-style, hole-in-the-wall bars, pubs, and eateries packed together to form a legendary Tokyo nightspot that has remained untouched by modernisation. Golden Gai is famous for its ‘Showa retro’ atmosphere of post-war 1950s Tokyo.
