Summary

[edit]
Description

Baptisia 'Indigo Spires' 6/2021 Baptisia- (Walter Gardens) False Indigo Baptisia, Mature size: 4x4’, deep violet flowers, USDA Hardiness Zone 3, Michigan Bloom Month 6a, In Garden Bed U2 for 3.8 YEARS (Halson). Planted in 2017.

Walters Gardens: This Baptisia greatly impressed us in our trials with its perfect habit and heavy flower production. Unlike some Baptisia which can be tall and leggy, ‘Indigo Spires’ forms a densely branched, fully rounded clump of glaucous green foliage that extends far down the stems, leaving little bare stem showing at the base.

Baptisia 'Indigo Spires' forms a fully rounded, 3 1/2 to 4' clump of blue-green foliage and in early summer it has 12 to 15in. spikes of deep violet purple flowers with a yellow midrib, all around the clump. (PP#26750)

I planted this next to 'Browine Points'. After 3 years, brownie points looks better. Taller, wider, more stems. Maybe indigo just needs a little more time.
