Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Bank Quay In the middle ages, the sea reached the town walls on the north side and the section of the street shown in the photo was the estuary of Afon Cadnant which flowed out beneath the East Gate drawbridge. In the late 18th and early 19th century this area was reclaimed from the sea and the Cadnant contained within an underground culvert. The large, blue painted house, known as Bank House, housed the town's first bank. This led to the area being named Bank Quay.
