The actin question which you performed is not onlyhumanitarian but indicates an efficiency of thehighest degree. It is my personal privilege aswell as my pleasure to pay you this word oftribute for your service and in addition to ex-press a word of personal gratitude and to placeyour name upon the Safety Honor Roll of theBaltimore and Ohio Railroad. The editorial, headed Manhood, inthe Baltimore Sun of August 22 is asfollows: All the heroes are not in France. Let ustake off our hats to Fireman E. W. Bennett,of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, whoprevented a second railroad wreck and seriousloss of lives by jumping from his own derailedengine, rushing through the scalding steam toflag an oncoming passenger train. He showedpresence of mind, as well as his nerve, andhis promptness and courage averted a calamity. Moral: If you are a man you will not lackopportunity of showing your manhood. 27

Charles W. Galloway Completes Thirty-fiveYears of Service with Baltimore and Ohio HOO busy for any formal observ-ance of his unusual record ofservice, Charles W. Galloway,Federal Manager of the Balti-more and Ohio Railroad Western Lines,passed the thirty-fifth anniversary ofhis service with the road on August 23by working at his desk. His manyfriends remembered the day, however,and he was warmly congratulated. Those who know the vigor and en-durance of Federal Manager Gallowayscarcely can realize that he is nearing theOslerian dead-line that the notedsurgeon established in one of his thought-ful moments, but Sir William Osierevidently had few intimate acquaint-ances among railroad men and he cer-tainly did not know Mr, Galloway, or hewould have established his theoreticaldead-line much further towards thecentury milestone in a mans life.
