Pieces of Paris historic Les Halles's dismantled steel pavilion re-erected in Yokohama

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Baltard Pavilion (French: Pavillon Baltard) is a steel structure rebuilt in Yamate-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama and is one of twelve famous steel-and-glass pavilions that have housed the historic Les Halles food market in the center of Paris for over a century that were designed by architect Victor Baltard in the 1850s. All of these pavilions were demolished in 1971 and 1973 allowing the construction of large metros, RER station, and the Forum des Halles shopping center. Two pavilions were saved, one is reinstalled in Nogent-sur-Marne in France, the other shipped to Yokohama, Japan and made to an arch in Minato-no-Mieru Oka Koen (Harbor View Park). Yamate-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama.
