Train at Ballymacarrett Halt - 1990

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Train at Ballymacarrett Halt - 1990
The Belfast & County Down Railway opened a "railmotor" halt at Ballymacarrett in 1905, the site being just east of the junction for the line to Newcastle (closed 1950) and close to the Oval football ground. Popular with shipyard workers, the halt closed in 1977 on the opening of Bridge End. During an engineers possession, Northern Ireland Railways' "Suburban" liveried 80-class DMBSO No. 89 brings the 09.35 Bangor - Belfast (Central) "wrong line" through the remains of the halt.
