Description |
Postcard featuring a hand-drawn illustrated depiction of a hot air balloon in the style of an airship with a sail and oars for steering. The design of the balloon is credited to "Guyot," likely referring to the author of Essai sur la construction des ballons aérostatiques et sur la maniere de les diriger (1784) alternately identified as Guillaume-Germain Guyot (1724-1800?) or Edmé-Gilles Guyot (1706-1786). This postcard is part of a set originally collected in a scrapbook entitled Album Gravures et Cartes-Postales: Vieux Paris Types Petits Métiers et Cris De La Rue (1909). |
