Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This building was built in 1908 by Ballard merchants John W. Hynes and John S. Fitzgerald for their general merchandise store. They purchased the lot adjacent to Ballard's city hall in November 1907 from James Zook for only $5,000 (equivalent to $150,000 today). Designed by Victor W. Voorhees and originally dubbed the Hynes & Fitzgerald block, it has long since been known as the Eagles Building, after the fraternal organization that occupied the upper floor from 1908 until the construction of the Ballard Building in 1927. It was one of the first cast concrete buildings in Ballard.
