English: Maj. Jamie Swartz, an ear nose and throat surgeon, sutures a patients nose after performing an open septorhinoplasty in the Craig Joint Theater Hospital on Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, July 22, 2013. The procedure performed separated his nose into a left and right side, straightening the septum and bones, reducing the obstruction and allowing the patient to breathe better. The patient had problems breathing, headaches and pressure because of an obstruction inside his nose. Swartz is assigned to the 455th Expeditionary Medical Group and deployed from Langley Air Force Base, Va. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Stephenie Wade) |
