Summary
[edit]DescriptionBadlands Sky, San Rafael Swell, UT 7-13 (46633015831).jpg |
(1 in a multiple picture album) Driving from Salina, UT and Green River, UT, you will find one of America's longest stretches of road (112 miles) without service of any kind. This area is known, generally, as the badlands. As you near the anticipated gas and refreshments at Green River you are almost forced to stop and admire the San Rafael Swell. This is an area that shows the birth of our planet. Huge splines of rock were thrust up at an angle. They give the appearance of the finned back of a giant reptile. Geologists call them fins. This particular day the rugged beauty of the Swell was enhanced by a beautiful sky. |
