[edit]DescriptionBETH'S POETRY TRAIL No 7. PHILIP LARKIN (7024704917).jpg |
This Granite plaque is mounted on the wall at the side of the entrance to Belper's public library. Exactly the same quotation is mounted by the entrance to the Brynmor Jones Library in Hull where Larkin worked for thirty years. The quotation is from the short verse, part of his "uncollected poems" : - NEW EYES EACH YEAR New eyes each year Find old books here, And new books, too, Old eyes renew; So youth and age Like ink and page In this house join, Minting new coin. Philip Larkin 1922 -1985 |
