Description

Une monnaie en argent d’un denier de Geoffroy II, duc consort de Bretagne de 1181 à 1186. Il est né en 1158 et mort à Paris des suites de blessures après un tournoi. Il est marié en 1181 avec Constance, duchesse de Bretagne et fille de Conan IV qui a abdiqué en 1166. C’est Henri II Plantagenêt, roi d’Angleterre, qui gouverne le duché. Il fiance son fils Geoffroy (7 ans) avec Constance (4 ans), l’héritière du duché. Suite à sa mort, Constance règne comme duchesse jusqu’à 1196 où son fils Arthur est reconnu comme duc de Bretagne. A/ +GAVFRIDVS Croix échancrée à 3 pointes dont une arrondie, évidée au centre avec un point. R/ +DVXBRITANI Lis cruciforme avec 4 annelets.
