Title
Awl
Description
English: A section of flint, translucent brown in colour with dense brown inclusions. The side of the artefact is made up of cortex, smooth in texture, indicating probable beach material. Without the retouch at the distal edn of the dorsal face, this would appear as a half moon shape in plan, the dorsal face is smooth in appearance, the left margin is flat and straight, implying that this was from a pebble that was literally brown in half. The right margin and proximal edge are comprised of a sliver of cortex, wchih only terminates on reaching the distal edge, where it appears to have been subjected to retouch, making an awl type point. The ventral face is smooth in appearance and exhibits possible retouch on the right side below the distal edge.
