Description

Autel à ThienHau de la salle d'assemblée Phuoc Kien à Hoi An.

Sur le mur du fond de ce temple sont peints les six portraits des six premières familles originaires du Fujian, qui arrivèrent à Hôi An au XVIIe siècle, après la fin de la dynastie Ming. A droite de l'autel est exposée une maquette de bateau chinois.

Thien Hau est pour les chinois la déesse protectrice des marins. On l'appelle également la Dame Céleste. Elle est une des formes prises par le Bodhissattva Avalokiteshvara.

Deux temples dédiés à Thien Hau existent à Hoi An, ils dépendent de deux communautés chinoises distinctes de navigateurs et de commerçants.

Ces temples font partie de maisons communales (ou de corporation). Ils sont gérés par un conseil des patriarches et sont entretenus par les membres des communautés chinoises.
