Summary

[edit]
Description

English: Abandoned quarry of the holocene sediment tufa in Gönningen, Schwäbische Alb. The local river Wiesaz sedimented huge quantities of this sub-type of tufa (“Kalktuff”) in five big terraces. “Kalktuff” is a very frequent material on the Swabian Jura. The material has excellent properties as building material: Easy to form blocks, which are weather resistant and well insulating. The local mineable deposits are exhausted. Yet traces of evidence have been integrated in an “instruction path.
