Description
English: From left, Col. Laura Favand, an Oakdale, Pa., native and the chief of training with the Department of Defense Ebola Treatment Training Team, Joint Forces Command - United Assistance, Deborah Malac, the U.S. ambassador to Liberia, and Michael D. Lumpkin, the assistant secretary of defense for special operations/low-intensity conflict, listen to Dr. Philip Ireland, right, an Ebola survivor, about his training in the DET-3 class, in support of Operation United Assistance, at the National Training Police Training Academy, Paynesville, Liberia, Dec. 3 2014. He also talked about his experience fighting Ebola and how fortunate he is to be alive. Operation United Assistance is a Department of Defense operation in Liberia to provide logistics, training and engineering support to U.S. Agency for International Development-led efforts to contain the Ebola virus outbreak in western Africa.
