Description
English: Ashchurch: a Stanier 8F 2-8-0 on a freight off the Evesham line, 1945.
View NE from the Evesham line platform at Ashchurch of one of the many freight trains that came in those days from the Stratford-on-Avon and Birmingham directions, also from the Ashchurch MoD Depot - and this is one of my very first efforts at photography. Stanier 8F 2-8-0 No. 8646 had been built at the SR Works at Brighton in 1943 and survived to be one of the very last BR steam locomotives when withdrawn from Lostock Hall Depot in 6/68.
