Description
English: Articulated Compound Engine for the Imperial Peking–Kalgan Railway, of North China, built by the North British Locomotive Co. Ltd. First Mallet compound engine built in Great Britain. Three built on behave of Mssrs. J. Whittall & Co. Walschaert valve gear. Steam reversing gear. Steam activated drain valves for all cylinders. Westinghouse automatic and independant brake. Compressed air operated sanding. Operated on grades 1:30 and round curves of 500 ft radius. Axle load 16 tons. Total engine weight: 96 tons. Tenders built in China. Standard gauge (1435 mm)
