Arriva have recently sent Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 4201 to Milton Keynes to replace Volvo B9TL/Optare Olympus 4106, which in turn is being transferred to Luton to replace sister 4110, which has been withdrawn due to a bridge strike. In return, Leicester have received now-closed Aylesbury depot's ADL Enviro400 5468, which has been freshly repainted from the Journey Mark Sapphire livery into the regular Journey Mark livery and renumbered 4425, taking the number of a 64-plate Enviro400 which was transferred to Bootle earlier this year. (Man, is the renumbering of the imported E400s a complete and utter mess! The Scottish number plate suggests that this bus was built in Falkirk rather than Scarborough.) The new 4425, which entered service in Leicestershire yesterday on the 127 and is presently tracking as its predecessor 4201, is seen turning from Greenclose Lane into The Rushes in Loughborough town centre with a service 127 from Shepshed to Leicester. It is striking to realise that apart from the electric buses, Arriva's double-decker fleet in Leicester is almost entirely composed of ADLs! Yikes! |
