English: Minkus Mikhail Adolfovich (Dec. 12 (25), 1905 - Aug. 31, 1963 )Son of the architect A.B. Minkus. He studied at the architectural department of the Odessa Institute of Fine Arts (1923-1925), then at the Art Academy in Leningrad (1925-1930). From 1930 he worked in Moscow, the first in a workshop VA Shuko and IA Fomin, then PA Golosov. During World War II was engaged in construction of fortifications around Moscow. The most significant buildings: the Great Stone Bridge, a six-story garage on the street Presnensky Val (1936-1941), metro stations "Botanic Garden" (now "Prospect Mira"), high-rise building on Smolenskaya Square (1953, VG Helfreich); participated in the reconstruction of the Pushkin Square (1947), Planning and Development Smolenskaya Square, the streets and the waterfront (1953-1963). Among the graphic works of distinguished architectural sketches of the old Moscow (1934-1941, mostly in Gnehm and private collections). State Prize (1949). He was buried in the Novodevichy cemetery. |
