Description

This photo was chosen as a finalist in the FrontLines photo contest. Through the USAID-funded Ambassador’s Small Grants Program, a community-based association on the outskirts of Kabul, Afghanistan, is training women in dairy processing so they can sell products on the local market. Most of the women have never held a job, earned an income, or enrolled in any formal education. As part of the program, the women also learn health and hygiene practices to better care for themselves and their families. February 2011.
