Summary

[edit]
Description
English: DRS 37425 with the Preston to Barrow service at Carnforth. Concrete Bob was the first of the MacAlpine baronets and it was an appropriate loco name in two ways. One is that Concrete Bob's great grandson the 6th baronet has strong connections with railways in general and Carnforth in particular. The other fitting connection is that the curving platform for the Furness Line has a concrete roof which was (in 1937) and may well still be the longest single piece unsupported concrete roof in Britain.
