Summary
[edit]DescriptionAntyodoy Anath Ashram.JPG |
English: Antyodoy Anath Ashram is an
orphanage located in the village of Paushi, in the district of East Midnapore. It was established by Sri Balaram Karan in 1995, with just 23 children. At present there are 80 children. Balaram Karan set out to take under his care, two parentless children in mid-1994. With whole-hearted support from his wife Chhabi Karan, he dared to bring more such orphans from other villages, not thinking of the dire con- sequences. He started facing financial trouble. Soon, even after selling some of his property, he was forced to beg from the people of nearby vil- lages. Many of his benefactors were farmers, who themselves were poor. They still helped Balaram to their fullest capabilities. In 2004, Balaram said in a newspaper article how there were 136 families in his and 8 other villages near his village where he used to keep earthen pots by the doors of every house each morning. All he asked for was a few handfuls of rice for his children. In 1995 when he officially started the orphanage. |
